Portfolio Info

The HDFC Small Cap Fund invests the majority of its corpus in equity and equity related instruments of small-cap companies across market sectors. The average investment in small-cap company stocks is around 50%. The company also invests heavily in mid-cap stocks, with an average investment of approximately 35%. The fund invests the residual amount of approximately 15% in large-cap stocks, debt, and other money market instruments. The fund currently invests heavily in the Services, Chemicals, Engineering, and Finance sectors of the Indian economy.

Fund Analysis

The fund originally an all cap fund (Morgan Stanley ACE) had been narrowed down to Small and Midcap and now to HDFC Small Cap. The fund has been managed by one of the best managers in the Mid and Small Cap segment - Chirag Satalvad whose stock selection ability has resulted in placing it in the top most funds since his joining in spite of a hefty AUM with more than 3000 crores.
